What claimed range means, and how to plan your week around it

Every range figure on this site is the figure claimed by ROMAI. Your own distance will vary. Here is how to use the number sensibly.

Why real distance differs

The distance you get on a charge moves with rider and load, road surface, stops and starts, hills, and the age and temperature of the battery. Two riders on the same scooter can see different results.

Plan with the lower number

Where a model has a range such as 55 to 65 km, plan with 55. If your day fits comfortably inside the lower figure, the higher one is a margin rather than a promise.

How often will you charge?

Multiply your daily distance by the days you ride, then divide by the lower claimed range. A 30 km day, seven days a week, on a model claimed at 70 km comes to three charges a week.

The calculator on our home page does this for you.

Ask about the battery

Ask your showroom about charging and about what is covered for the battery on the exact model you are looking at. They can confirm the details for that scooter.
